Recommend Your Favorite Doctor for the OIF Physician Referral Database!
The mission of the OI Foundation is to improve the quality of life for individuals affected by OI through research to find treatments and a cure, education, awareness, and mutual support. Many OI community members, especially adults, have faced difficulties finding trusted medical professionals experienced in treating OI. If you are familiar with a doctor, dentist, or other medical professional that you would like to recommend for other adults and families in the OI community, please ask your physician for permission to be listed in the OIF physician referral database and email bonelink@oif.org with his/her contact information.

Cold Weather Safety Tips
Recent spells of extreme winter weather have brought ice, heavy snowfall, and high winds that cause driving, riding, wheeling, or walking to become hazardous. Preparing ahead of time can help you manage the impact of the cold weather, keeping you and your family safe. Below are some reminders for staying safe when you have to brave the elements this season.

  • Plan for extra time to get ready on cold mornings
  • Keep rock salt for de-icing available to ensure a safer walk or wheelchair ride
  • Gather emergency supplies and discuss family plans in the event of power outages
  • Store any infant carriers or accessible equipment indoors before use to keep it warm. Click here for more information on winter car seat safety tips for children

Visit the websites of the Red Cross, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), and the National Mobility Equipment Dealers Association (NMEDA) for more information about winter weather resources.
