Friends, family and co-workers often want to help someone with OI, but they don't know how to go about it. Bone China Tea is an easy way for you to reach out and give them the opportunity to provide support.
Bone China Tea is a phantom tea party, not an actual event. Each year, guests receive a nice printed invitation in the mail with a tea bag inside, or they may receive an e-mail invitation. The invitations invite your friends and loved ones to stay at home, enjoy a cup of their favorite tea, and make a donation in honor of their friend or family member who has OI. No one has to dress up, hire a babysitter, or even gas up the car!
Gifts to Bone China Tea help the Foundation produce new information resources for families and medical professionals, fund groundbreaking research into treatments and a cure, and facilitate the operation of support groups across the country.
During 2009, volunteer 'hosts' raised more than $37,150 for OI, simply by writing a note or an e-mail, stuffing and addressing envelopes, and placing them in the mail.
You, too, can make a difference by sending invitations to your own friends and family, either by mail or by e-mail. To get involved, simply follow the instructions at the bottom of the page. The official date for this year's tea is March 24, 2010.
The Bone China Tea was founded in 1993 by Patricia Kipperman.
