Don's Progress : 474 of 350 Laps Completed!
Friends and family
As many of you know, I swim several times a week to improve my fitness. Now, I am want to use my swimming to help others. I have pledged to swim 350 laps (about 10 miles) during the month of May as a part of the Osteogenesis Imperfecta Foundation's 50,000 Laps - One Unbreakable Spirit Challenge, but I need your support!
An estimated 50,000 people in the United States are affected by Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI), a rare genetic disease that makes bones fragile and easily broken. A person living with OI may experience hundreds of painful fractures over a lifetime. Infants with OI are often born with multiple broken bones. In severe cases of OI, a cough can break an adult’s rib. Each person with OI is unique, with different fracture rates, a varied range of related health issues and his or her own path through life. Yet there is one thing every person living with OI has in common… an Unbreakable Spirit!
Please help us to provide answers to families, fund research, and maintain a network of support groups for families dealing with the daily realities of OI by making a gift and even joining us for this fun event.
You can improve lives! To support the important work of the OI Foundation, simply click on the "Make a gift!" link under the thermometer on this page.
If you prefer to mail in your donation: Make all checks payable to the OI Foundation. Then, please mail your check directly to the foundation, but please put my name on the memo line.
If you are unable to give financiall, I would still appreciate your prayers for me as I swim and for the OI Foundation as we try to raise funds. Please feel to share this with your friends and family so they can help us find a cure for OI.
I truly appreciate your generosity and prayers.
